You don’t need us to tell you that the social media revolution is here to stay. But how can you share an event taking place in the heart of London with the rest of the world? Or share a buzzing festival up in Scotland with your mates in China?

Exposure is often what grows events – but it can be time consuming. Over here at Ticket Tailor HQ, we’ve decided to bring you some of a top tools for event organisers to share their events with the global community.

Cover It Live

Cover it Live allows event organisers (or their bloggers) to blog about their events in real time or “LiveBlog”. This service is great for conferences or any type of business events as it allows readers to interact with content in real time. So if your event involves live coverage of a sport for example, Cover it Live is a great way to bridge the communication gap between your reporters and your audience.

Social PIX

No event is complete without copious amounts of pictures taken, uploaded and shared! If a dedicated platform for sharing your event photos to Facebook with one click sounds up your street – check out Social PIX. Social PIX is an experiential photo solution for Facebook where you can create stories and gain fans by instantly uploading photos to both your page and fan’s walls. The simple to use interface is great for saving time – and gaining fans!

Socializr

With a similar interface to Facebook, Socializr is an event based social network in its own right. You can add, search other events and invite people to your events. It offers hundreds of customisable templates for you to design and send out invites to your event. Unlike other event invite services, Socializr lets you upload audio and video to go with your invite – perfect!

Live Stream

Have you ever thought about those who would have loved to attend your event but couldn’t be there? Or those who’d like a sneak preview of your event before attending? Well if you’d like to make these people rather happy, Live Stream is the way to do it. Live Stream allows you to literally stream – and watch – events as they happen. This means you can share a party in Glasgow with your fans in India – and all in real time.

Ticket Tailor’s Facebook Integration App

So you’ve got all the sharing tools needed for your event – the last thing to do is to make sure fans and guests can buy tickets to your event directly from their social media. With Ticket Tailor’s Facebook Integration tool, you can make your tickets a click away from Facebook fans. Once installed, our app automatically keeps up to date with your Ticket Tailor box office. What’s more, this is totally free on all of our packages.

In a world dominated by social media, it’s important that your guests are able to get tickets via their favourite social websites. With the Ticket Tailor Facebook app, a ‘Buy Tickets’ tab is added to your Facebook page so people can buy tickets instantly.

To make things better, this feature is FREE on all packages.

The app lists all the events you have on sale in your Ticket Tailor box office, making them only a click away from your Facebook fans. To make life that little bit easier still, the ‘Buy Tickets’ tab automatically keeps itself up to date with your event listings on the Ticket Tailor website.

It looks slick, and it’s mighty easy to install once you’ve signed up. Even so, we’ve even written a handy walk-through showing how to integrate your box office with Facebook.

Over here at Ticket Tailor HQ, we’ve been working hard to make our system even better. We’re proud to announce our new feature that we hope makes an event organisers life just that little bit easier.

With our system, you can now set a selling quantity for a group of tickets.

For example, say you want to sell 100 family tickets, which could be any combination of adult tickets and child tickets. To prevent over selling, you would have to reset the ticket quantities every time a ticket was sold.

Now, you may set a quantity which will retain an equilibrium, no matter how many child tickets or adult tickets are sold. Furthermore, due to this new feature, you will never oversell tickets.

To do this, login to your dashboard and create a new event or edit an existing one. Click ‘Add new ticket group’.

Insert the name of the ticket group, for example ‘Family Tickets’ and the quantity to be sold.

This group will now be ready to hold tickets.

To add tickets to the group just select the name of the group from the drop down box.

Once added, the total tickets sold will not exceed the limit put on the group – in this example 100 tickets.

As with any event, it’s difficult to know exactly how many tickets you will sell. Without this feature, you would have to continually reset the ticketing quantities when selling a group of tickets.

How Ticket Tailor transformed their ticket selling:

Collated ticket sales

Since Treble Ace are hosting “The Greatest Show in the Galaxy”, they need the facilities to sell – and keep track of – lot of tickets and ticket types. Ticket Tailor offers this facility – complete with easy-to-read graphs so you can see exactly how many tickets have been sold, at what time.

Website Integration

A feature which is FREE on most of our packages, website integration for Treble Ace allowed them to present a slick and seamless experience for their customers.

At the event, fans will be able to have their photo taken with their favourite celebrity. This is reflected in Treble Ace’s box office. Customers can select who they would like to have their photo taken with – and buy tickets specifically for that photo shoot.

What do they think about their new system?

“The box office is working great so far, it was easy to use. The pricing structure and the fact that you have UK specific support made this an easy choice.”

Type of events

In the words of the founders: “2 goats, 1 glorious race. The Oxford and Cambridge Goat Race.”

No doubt you’ve probably heard of the famous Oxbridge boat race. Well this event goes one better – two goats go head to head in a race in front of an adrenaline packed crowd.

This charity event is truly one of its kind. It’s a fun packed day, with lots of events going on aside from the goat race. Want to learn more? Check out the Oxford and Cambridge Goat Race website.

How Ticket Tailor transformed their ticket selling:

Selling Physical and Digital Tickets

Tickets for the Goat Race were previously sold tickets on the door but quickly sold out due to the sheer awesomeness of their event.

Selling physical tickets and digital tickets at the same time can be a complicated process. If you continue to sell tickets on the door, it can be difficult to house all your customer data in one place. Also, some ticketing platforms don’t allow you to input customer information from over the phone or face to face bookings. Not Ticket Tailor. The organisers of the Oxford and Cambridge Goat race are able to input any data from ticket sales – whether they were sold via Ticket Tailor or elsewhere.

What do they think about their new system?

“The box office is working great so far, it was easy to use. The pricing structure and the fact that you have UK specific support made this an easy choice.”

Jamilliah, the author of the article, says that our “attention to detail and design makes the service very appealing for those looking for functionality without interfering with a site or brand presentation”, pointing to the Machynlleth Festival as a great example.

We would like to say a special thank you to all our clients and well wishers – we couldn’t have done it without the amazing support from all of you.

This is only the beginning for us. We have so many more exciting developments in store to reach our next milestone of 1 million tickets sold.

You’re putting on the best show since Grease and you need to sell theatre tickets online in the best way possible. So when you’re considering given a huge chunk of your revenue to ticketing agencies, consider how much you can save with Ticket Tailor.

On average, you could end up paying a whopping £270 to sell 300 tickets at £10 each through a ticket agency*. With Ticket Tailor, you would only pay a simple subscription from £9/month.

So why give away more than you have to?

In addition, easy-to-read graphs make it effortless to keep track of all your sales. Every customer is sent an automatic e-ticket with a unique, six digit numerical code. This is then added to your doorlist along with the customer name, postcode and any tickets they have ordered – a list which you can export to use for admission on the night. You can also add barcodes to your e-tickets and use our super quick barcode-scanning software to get your customers through the door.

To make life even easier, there is an interactive seating plan built into Ticket Tailor which we customise for the layout of your theatre – complete with optional discount codes.

Theatre gurus WEST SUSSEX OPERA and FUSION DANCE TROUPE think the Ticket Tailor system is great.

WEST SUSSEX OPERA say:

“Ticket tailor have been efficient, accommodating and very pleasant to deal with. Customer response has been fantastic… I have recommended them to other people and will certainly be using them again.”

Laura Houston, Director at FUSION DANCE TROUPE, enjoyed her experience with Ticket Tailor too:

“The service was easy to set up and I could customise the seating plan so that it matched online and then I released a date to announce the ticket sale which in itself raised so much awareness of the event and then had to simply do nothing. The system stored all information for me and all I needed to do was activate it on the day I wanted and then print out a simple listing of tickets bought for the event and customers had to just bring their e-ticket confirmation on the day. I will definitely be using them again this year and for any other events we plan to hold.”

Take a look at many more brilliant features Ticket Tailor has to offer.

So you’re an event organiser and you’ve read last month’s blog about creative marketing. Your creative juices have been flowing. So lets take it up a notch – how do you make your event live up to the excellent marketing you’ve put out?

Style and substance!

There’s no point having sophisticated marketing, great planning and… a flagging event. Think of who you could invite to liven up the event or inject some specialist knowledge. For example, if you were holding a conference on animal care, why not invite a zookeeper? It’s that simple logic that can take you event to the next level. Of course, if you’re hosting a business event and happen to know Richard Branson, we’d recommend you get his RSVP, A.S.A.P.

First Impressions Count

Imagine you’re excited to go to the best party in town and you turn up to a shabby, run down venue with no lights and a slight odour. Would you stay? Possibly not. Yet many event organisers don’t take into account where they hold their events. If the venue has bad reputation, or less than fragrant toilets, it might be best to steer clear.

Lady Gaga, Rihanna and… Elvis?

If you organise business events, conferences or theatre shows, chances are you won’t be too worried about the music aspect of your event. But if you are a club night or festival organiser, the choice of music can make, or break, your night. Usually a good mix works well – unless it’s a specific theme night. Many clubbers complain about the lack of diversity in clubs and raves. You can make sure your event is praised weeks after it’s finished by really understanding your crowd and giving their ears what they want.

Wrap it up in a Nice, Neat Bow

Ever been at an event where the music suddenly stops, the lights come on and you’re kicked out of the door before your eyes have adjusted to the brightness? That’s one way not to end your event. It’s great to make your guests feel wanted, even up to when it’s time for them to leave. So leave 5 or 10 minutes at the end so everyone can leave at their own pace, or better still, give them a souvenir. It doesn’t have to be expensive, a small gesture will do. Whether you do decide to do this or not, memories of an awesome event should be the best parting gift they take away with them.
