Do You Want to put Events on at the Olympic Stadium?
/Ever wondered what it would be like to host your events at the Olympic stadium? The Olympic Park Legacy Company have created a competition which gives event organisers the chance to do just that.
The London Olympic stadium is the iconic masterpiece at the centre of the 2012 Olympic games. It will be hosting many of the main track and field events and will be the spectacular back drop for the opening and closing ceremonies.
However, after the widely published failure of the West Ham bid to take over the stadium once the Games are over, the Olympic Park legacy Company (OPLC) has retained the stadium as public property and is seeking event organisers to put on an array of events to fill the 60,000 seat venue from 2014.
The stadium will be leased to tenants – meaning each event will have use of the stadium for an agreed period. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport statement said: "The Government is committed to securing a legacy from the Olympic stadium, and wants to see it re-opening in 2014... Ending the current sale process and looking for a leasehold solution will remove the current uncertainty and allows us to help secure the future use of the Stadium with more confidence."
