How your ticket sales are helping protect our Oceans’ seagrass meadows | Ticket Tailor x Ocean Conservation Trust

Our planet’s seagrasses are diminishing rapidly, with some studies estimating that around 92% of those surrounding the UK have disappeared over the last couple of centuries or so.

Thankfully there are amazing organisations working hard to restore and protect them. The Ocean Conservation Trust is one of them, and we’re proud to say that we support the work they do with regular donations.

Quick sidebar: In 2021 we partnered with three climate charities: Ocean Conservation Trust, Rainforest Foundation UK (RFUK), and Cumbria Wildlife – for healthier oceans, healthier forests, and healthier bogs, to protect our planet and people. Since then, we’ve donated 1p (1.3c) for every ticket sold through our platform to these important (amazing, brilliant, wonderful 💚) causes.

Back to our planet’s seagrasses – what are they, and why do we need them? Turns out, they’re pretty wonderful ocean-dwelling meadows with a plethora of planet-friendly super powers.

Keep reading to learn more about the importance of seagrass, the work of the Ocean Conservation Trust, as well as our two-day volunteering trip to Plymouth 😎👇

How Ticket Tailor donations are helping indigenous rainforest populations protect their local environments | Ticket Tailor x Rainforest Foundation UK

How Ticket Tailor donations are helping indigenous rainforest populations protect their local environments | Ticket Tailor x Rainforest Foundation UK

About 17 percent of the Amazonian rainforest has been destroyed over the past 50 years, and losses are on the rise. In fact, destruction rose by 21% in 2020 alone. When contemplating these sobering statistics, it’s often wildlife conservation and climate change action that spring to mind.

But what about the indigenous communities who live in and rely on rainforests for food, medicine, shelter and livelihoods? There are millions of them, and empowering them to defend their own ancestral lands is the key to protecting the rainforests of our world – as non-profit NGO, Rainforest Foundation UK (RFUK)’s 33 year-strong mission poignantly highlights.

At Ticket Tailor, we’re proud to donate 1p (1.3c) to important causes for every ticket sold through our platform, and RFUK is one of them. In fact, in 2021 we partnered with three climate charities: Rainforest Foundation UK (RFUK), Ocean Conservation Trust, and Cumbria Wildlife – for healthier oceans, healthier forests, and healthier bogs, to protect our planet and people.

Here, we chat with RFUK to give you an insight into their work, our involvement, and how you – both individuals and businesses – can get involved, too.

Measuring, reducing and removing Ticket Tailor’s carbon output

Measuring, reducing and removing Ticket Tailor’s carbon output

The Ticket Tailor company vision is 'Growth on Purpose', which drives us to grow our business for the sake of the greater good of People and the Planet.

This vision grew from a quiet but important change we made last year to our company’s governing documents to legally commit ourselves to a ‘triple bottom line’ approach to business. In short, meaning we exist not just for profit, but also for the good of society and the environment. Measuring and understanding our carbon footprint is a huge part of this, and we have worked again this year with the awesome team at Supercritical to calculate our 2021 carbon emissions. Read on to find out how we want to go the extra mile in our carbon commitments.

We’re doubling our climate donations this Earth Day

We’re doubling our climate donations this Earth Day

The Ticket Tailor team are committed to combating the climate crisis. As a fully independent platform, we have the privilege of deciding exactly how we want to spend the money we make and one thing we are passionate about is ensuring we use a proportion of that money to donate to good causes.

As a team, we have collectively decided to channel those donations to charities that help to remove carbon emissions from the earth. To ensure we always prioritise giving to charity, we have committed to donating 1p (1.3c) for every ticket sold on the platform to climate causes. When you sell a ticket online with us, you’re helping to give back.

This Earth Day we’ve decided to double our climate donations. We will be donating 2p (2.6c) for every ticket sold on Ticket Tailor this Earth Day (22nd April, 2022).
