We spoke to Neil from The Corn Exchange in Edinburgh who has been using Ticket Tailor for a few years. He explained to us a little about the journey they have been on in the last few months:
Tell us about your venue…
The Corn Exchange in Edinburgh is a family owned, multipurpose events venue. We regularly host private, corporate, and commercial events ranging from concerts to weddings, gin festivals to trade exhibitions. We have a B2B operation and a B2C operation, two very diverse requirements are needed for our selling team to succeed.
And what led you to open the city’s biggest beer garden…
The beer garden came at a time where lockdown rules were being relaxed, there was a need to reopen our business and there was a demand from our customers who had endured lockdown for so many months and were wanting to head out and about. As an events’ creating team, we are challenged to spot opportunities in advance and after four months we all realised the public were needing a beer or two.
I can imagine! And what made you turn to online ticketing…
We have a very dynamic team, forward thinking and understanding of what our audience and clients require. Online ticketing was the only solution we were going to look at for the beer garden tables because our clients are an online generation. We needed to sell tables for the beer garden quickly, effectively and at all times of day and night. And whilst most of my team are still on furlough, we have been able to open the online ticketing platform and commence selling with ease.
How have your locals dealt with having to pre-book a table...
The idea of pre-booking tables at the beer garden has been accepted by some and refuted by others. That said many customers understand the new requirements we have to put in place and have pre-booked tables as required.
Are you likely to continue to use online bookings once things go back to normal...
We will continue to use online bookings once things go back to normal; this supports our business requirements and today’s technology options means we have no requirements for hard tickets anymore.
