We’re also pledging to double the usual 1p we donate to climate causes per ticket sale to 2p (2.6c) this Earth Day.
Ready to do your bit? Here’s all you need to know about Earth Day 2022 – plus a round-up of some great environmental events we’ve seen popping up on Ticket Tailor.
What is Earth Day?
Earth Day is an annual event held on 22nd April, designed to raise awareness and rally support for environmental protection.
It was first held in 1970 in the USA as a response to growing concerns about the damaging effect industrialisation was having on the planet.
Today, Earth Day sees more than one billion people across 123 countries rally together, with a huge range of global events taking place – all of which aim to further the environmental movement, and create positive change for our planet.
What is the Earth Day theme for 2022?
Each year, Earth Day has a different theme. This year, the theme is ‘Invest In Our Planet’. Here’s what the Earth Day website has to say about it:
“This is the moment to change it all — the business climate, the political climate, and how we take action on climate. Now is the time for the unstoppable courage to preserve and protect our health, our families, our livelihoods… together, we must Invest In Our Planet.” – Earth Day website
What can I do for Earth Day 2022?
There are tons of ways you can get involved with Earth Day. From supporting tree-planting projects to changing your own personal habits and signing petitions to help with the fight against things like fast-fashion – the options are vast.
Whether you want to donate money, time, or both, just head to the Earth Day website for a full list of ways you can show your support, and actively contribute towards the fight against climate change.
