Battle of The Strings image

Stringed instruments have been vibrating hearts since 13,000 BC. Over centuries, these instruments thrived across the continents creating deep roots and traditions in different countries. In the latest of our light-hearted debates, join us this summer to decide who will win the Battle of the Strings as Team China and Team India go head to head in the quest for the China Exchange crown. Will the Chinese guqin vibrate its way to success or will the Indian sitar pluck victory from the audience votes?

Master Xiangting LI will lead Team China to show the charm of "the father of instruments" and give a taste of why NASA sent a guqin recording to space to represent the intellectual capacity of human beings. Master Baluji Shrivastav OBE will represent Team India and the mighty sitar. He is bound to discuss why so many Western bands and artists including Coldplay, the Beatles and Metallica have used the instrument in their music.

The Battle of the Strings follows our Battle of Tea Time (won by Team GB) and the Battle of the Noodles (won by Team China). Who will reign victorious this time? You will be instrumental in deciding!

In partnership with The London International Guqin Festival 2018 and Baluji Music Foundation
