There are four Southern Whiskey Society Private Selection Whiskeys available for ticket purchasers to add to their ticket this year. Each selection is available by purchasing either an Early Access or General Admission ticket that includes the bottle of your choice. Ticket cost includes retail cost of the bottle + 9.75% Tennessee state sales tax + a $10 donation that will go straight to our non-profit partner One Generation Away.
PLEASE NOTE: Some SWS Private Selection Whiskeys are not bottled until closer to the event. We have done our best to allocate tickets based on estimates from our distillery partners. 2022 SWS PRIVATE SELECTION WHISKEYS:
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Rye Whiskey
This marks the third single barrel of Jack Daniel's we've featured at Southern Whiskey Society. Each and every time I pay a visit to the legendary Squire House there in Lynchburg, Tennessee, it's a fun and special occasion, and this time around was no different. This single barrel rye whiskey features a mash bill of 70% rye, 18% corn, and 12% malted barley, and it is bottled at 94 proof with an age of 6 years. Price per 750ml bottle will be $68, which includes bottle cost + 9.75% Tennessee state sales tax + a $10 donation to One Generation Away.
Leiper's Fork Distillery Single Barrel Cask Strength Tennessee Whiskey
When I first met Lee Kennedy years ago, he poured me a taste of his new-make rye whiskey. It was clear as crystal, and I was blown away by how much flavor it had coming right off the still. I felt then that Lee was onto something special, and as his barrels have aged, that gut feeling has proven true. His single barrels are some of my favorite releases in recent memory, and I'm excited to feature this delicious whiskey that is distilled and aged right here in our backyard. This single barrel Tennessee whiskey features a mash bill of 70% corn, 15% rye, and 15% malted barley, and it will be bottled at cask strength 109.1 proof (non-chill filtered) at an age of 5 years and 9 months. Price per 750ml bottle will be $109, which includes bottle cost + 9.75% Tennessee state sales tax + a $10 donation to One Generation Away.
Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon
This is the first private whiskey we've selected from Brown-Forman's iconic distillery, Woodford Reserve. This Kentucky straight bourbon features Woodford's much-beloved mash bill of 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley, and will be bottled at a smooth sipping 90.4 proof with an approximate age of 6-7 years. Price per 1L bottle will be $65, which includes bottle cost + 9.75% Tennessee state sales tax + a $10 donation to One Generation Away.
Rare Character Whiskey Barrel Proof Straight Bourbon
My new friend Pablo Moix, one of the founders of Rare Character Whiskey, purchases interesting lots of whiskey barrels that have a fun story to tell. After sampling several of his available barrels, I ultimately landed on this little slice of heaven that features a heavy dose of one of my favorite tasting notes: Angels' Food Cake. It is sweet and delicious, with oaky notes of vanilla and cherry to boot. It is a MGP-distilled straight bourbon (60% corn, 36% rye, 4% malted barley) that has lived most of its life in a funky little warehouse in Tennessee, before ultimately landing at Pablo's warehouse in Kentucky. It's a powerful three-state bourbon for sure, and upon bottling it will come in around 5 years and 6 months old with a barrel proof of 122.3. Price per 750ml bottle will be $87, which includes bottle cost + 9.75% Tennessee state sales tax + a $10 donation to One Generation Away.
