Camp Parliament for Girls London II 2022 introduces girls ages 12 to 17 to the UK’s parliamentary system of government. Camp Parliament for Girls London begins with a lesson the structure and history of the British Parliament. The lesson goes on to review the eligibility requirements to stand for office, a review of political parties, a study of the structure of elections and recognition of the UK’s female political leaders. Students will form political parties, create a campaign platform to stand for office, vote in an election and form a government to pass a law. Each student will serve as an MP.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the registration fee refundable? The registration fee is non-refundable unless the GIP cancels a class. If a participant is unable to attend a class a credit will be placed on file with GIP that may be used at any time for a future class. The credit may be used one-time class transfer and the credit does not expire.

Where is the event hosted? The class will be hosted at a Marriott Hotel property conference center or private conference center. 

Is this a partisan program or supported by a political party? No, the Girls in Politics Initiative is a private company that is self-funded through the fees generated from hosting events.

Is financial aid available? Financial aid is available on a first come, first serve basis. Email finance@girlsinpolitics.com to request financial aid.

Who are the instructors? Our Lead Instructors are women that currently or have previously worked in government or electoral politics. Our support staffers are current or former licensed teachers. Our instructors and support staff have criminal background checks and WWC cards.

COVID-19 (coronavirus) Protocols

We will be following the guidance of the following institutions and/or agencies in formulating the protocols and policies by which we will host in-person camps in 2023.

  • Local government health authorities where events are offered
  • Public Health England 

Classroom Protocol

  • Each student will have her temperature checked at check-in.
  • Students are required to wear properly fitted masks for the duration of the event.
  • If a student is ill the student should remain at home. If a student becomes ill during class or arrives ill, parents will be contacted immediately to pick-up the student. The ill student will be separated from the well students until the student is able to leave.
  • Bathroom breaks will be increased allowing students to wash hands more frequently during class.
  • Stations with hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes will be available for students in the classroom setting.
  • Students will be seated in a socially distant configuration. Classroom activities will be hosted in an outdoor classroom setting, weather permitting.
  • All workspaces will be cleaned by GIP/GIB staff with disinfecting wipes prior to students’ arrivals and after lunch.
  • Students will be seated in a socially distance classroom set-up, allowing each student ample individual workspace for the duration of class. Hand shaking and any other physical contact will be discouraged.
  • Each student will receive pencils, a glue stick, scissors and art markers for her individual use during class.
