Singer/Songwriter Bernice Lewis talks about the structure of songs, and why it works. She deconstructs several well known songs as well as her own work, analyzing components, story line, use of poetic devices, chord structure, melody, and talks about how contemporary song has evolved historically. This master class is for musicians, non-musicians, and would-be songwriters.
Bernice Lewis is currently the Artist Associate in Songwriting at Williams College in Williamstown, MA. She also teaches at Schreiner University in Kerrville, TX and Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO. She has been an Artist in Residence for the National Park Service at Grand Canyon National Park, North Rim, AZ as well as the Marble House Project Dorset, VT. She is a founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary Ukulele Orchestra.
