The new GCSE and A Level specifications have proven challenging, not just because of the sheer amount of content but because of the greater focus on AO2 assessment and the need for students to write proper essays even to pass the exams.
This unique online CPD event hosted by experienced teacher, trainer and textbook-author Charlotte Vardy, offers teachers the opportunity to focus on the skills all Religious Studies students now need to develop.
Different approaches to teaching students to write essays will be discussed and teachers will practice analyzing and assessing a range of sample essays written by students of differing abilities as part of GCSE and A Level courses. A number of different teaching activities which support better essay skills will also be described.
This online CPD event is exclusively for "Friends of Candle Conferences"; those with current status (who have booked one of our events during the academic year 2019-20) may attend for FREE, while for others it costs £50. Either way, unlimited numbers of teachers can attend using the same logon link.
To participate all you need is an internet enabled computer, tablet or smartphone with microphone and speakers. This can easily be connected to a projector if several teachers will be attending together. Unlike the exam-boards with their complex Adobe Connect software, we use CITRIX GO TO MEETING, which does not require any complicated set-up or IT support. You just click the logon link (which will be sent out a week before the event) and you should be in the meeting in less than a minute. No downloads or installation necessary. Details may be found here:
To take advantage of the FREE Friends' access, you will need to e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org mentioning the event you attended during this academic year and this offer. Moira, our administrator, will then reserve your place and e-mail confirmation to you.
