Ever wondered if you could create more complicated closures for your jewelry? The answer is yes. In this class we will discuss several different types of closures and choose one closure to try. Some closures we will look at and be able to choose from are:
- Toggle clasp
- Box Clasp
- Locking J clasp
- Shepard's hook
- Hinged clasp
All materials are included in the class fee, including shop fees, and instructional time. You may or may not finish your piece during this class, we have designed open studios for this purpose. Generally we hold open studios every first and second Saturday of the month from 1-3pm. A trained instructor will be present to assist you in your projects, provide feedback and general help. You are also invited to request scheduled time with the instructor should you require.
Ages appropriate for this class: Due to the nature of some of the processes we may employ, minimum age with a paid parent is 16.
What to bring:
- Please wear comfortable, shop attire. No open toed shoes or tennis shoes. Work boots or other hard toed shoes are appropriate.
- Please consider proper hydration for this work, there are beverages for purchase available.
- Bring any specialty needs, such as your favorite magnifiers, etc.
- We will be working with copper and bronze for this class, if you prefer another metal you can contact the instructor ahead of time to arrange a purchase, or purchase your materials on your own. This does not discount the class in any way.
- If you have a pair of safety glasses that you prefer above all else, please come prepared. There is safety equipment available in the shop.
