Our Autumn Series brings another eclectic range of topics, including what's bound to be a rigorous debate about the best detective of all time, an introduction to the fascinating world of Sound Design and an opportunity to plan your arts-related trips next year.

  • Wednesday 25th September 2024: Who was the Master Detective, the Greatest of all Time?

Four speakers make the case for their own favourite, then we will open up for a discussion where you can agree, disagree, or argue for your own detective before we have a vote at the end of the evening.

  • Wednesday 30th October 2024: “Sound is Half the Picture.”

George Lucas’s famous quote refers to film, but it is equally important in theatre productions and live events. Carolyn Downing, the multi-award-winning sound designer of ‘Life of Pi’, ‘Chimerica’, ‘All My Sons’ and the 2022 Commonwealth Games, joins us to talk about this little-known but vital area of the arts.

  • Wednesday 27th November 2024: Looking Ahead to the Arts in 2025

Bringing our Autumn season to a close, our speakers will discuss the best books, films, exhibitions and theatrical productions of 2024, and give a hint about what to look out for in 2025.

Doors open for all events at 6.30pm and talks will start at 7.30.

There will be opportunities to continue the conversation and the bar will remain open after each talk.

Food platters will also be available. The Meat Platter will include Parma ham, salami, chorizo, olives, humous, cheddar, brie, bread, crackers, grapes and chilli jam. The Veggie Platter will include falafels, beetroot, salad sticks, humous, olives, cheddar, brie, bread, crackers, grapes and chilli jam.

£9.95 each /£17.95 to share: please order with your tickets.
