EAST WEST BLUES FEST!
Afternoon > early evening

In June 2024, Broken Windows hosted James Oliver Band and guest Al Brown for a one off show to a brilliant crowd in the utterly fantastic Drygate Brewery. You've inspired us. We East folks (Embra) are bringing a new event to Glasgow for a multi band line up mini fest!

!!! 2ND HEADLINER TO BE ANNOUNCED !!!
I can't stress enough how excellent this is!
TBA!
AL BROWN BAND
LIZ JONES & BROKEN WINDOWS
MUD IN YOUR EAR

AL BROWN BAND (True electric blues!)

Glasgow local Al Brown, certainly one of the tastiest guitarists in the UK, really plays the blues. That fine electric blues!, with his band of familiar faces in the Scotland scene, top quality musicianship all round, worthy of the biggest stages in the world.

LIZ JONES & BROKEN WINDOWS (Roots rock, a bit blue!)

We're not a 'blues' band. In fact one of the reasons we're doing this is because we've noticed an increasing lack of more authentic blues acts in the wider UK festival and blues club circuits. No beef, just that we want to put on and promote the kind of blues we miss hearing. So we are your hosts, and rootsy filler, with our blues influenced originals, sandwiched between two truly GREAT blues bands. We do have Blues'N'Trouble members, so there's also that ;-)

MUD IN YOUR EAR (Authentic acoustic blues!)

A trio of Alan Jones, Gary Martin and legendary (in Edinburgh and on YouTube!) Snake Hips Richard O'Donnel. Superbly authentic to the masters of early blues, this group's appreciation of the genre is unbeaten. Multi instrumentalists playing piano, harmonica, steel and acoustic guitars.

Here's Richard doing Elmore James - help him hit 2 million views!

For lovers of:

Roots music
Blues music
Quality musicianship

Broken Windows have been hosting nights in Scotland for about 7 years. What we like to do is share our stage with other acts that we think are top notch, to give YOU a good deal for your money, and to create real one off events. Full sets from all acts, and almost always a collaboration, because thats the point of 15 musicians in a room, right?!

But maybe you've never heard of Broken Windows?
That's okay. We're "up and coming" veterans of the Edinburgh underworld. We do originals, but NOT boring ones. We have BRILLIANT players, We've got BLUES'N'TROUBLE members, We've got Suzy (If you don't know you should), We have a songwriter who "wakes the dead" (so says Brian) and we dance around all the roots genres. If you like vintage tones, full bands and the unvain spirit of 60s music, you're in.

We've got an amazing bunch of friends and followers who've been enabling us to hire venues and do our thing since 2017. Because we're not a covers band, we mostly have to put on our own shows. Your Ticket money covers the venue, parking, petrol, and hopefully a fair fee for the musicians for their time. We know the cost of living has gone up, and so we thank you for reading this and considering our night. :-)

The Drygate Brewery Venue is superb. It's just OUTSIDE the LEZ zone if you have an old banger. It's got an outdoor terrace if you need to grab a few moments of bitter November air! Clearly the beer is fantastic. It's a room with mixed seating and standing, there will be many seats for those who need them, and we recommend coming for door time if you do.
