Since 2017, the Shindig has been a place for facilitators to exploring the art and the craft of their work, developing their practice through discussion, experimentation, storytelling and action.

At a Shindig event you are invited to "rattle the foundations" of your current practice -try new things, re-think old things, reflect and grow your confidence, capability and capacity.

Along with other facilitators and practitioners, from a range of backgrounds and experiences, you'll have the opportunity to try out ideas and put real practice into play.

And joy... you sign up for a Shindig for the joy of doing good work, with people who challenge and support you. You get to experiment with people who collaborate and rehearse with you.

Who is this for?

Practitioners who regularly work with (or are beginning to regularly work with) groups/ teams and who are serious about developing their craft.

Practitioners who want to push the edges of their practice, experimenting with techniques and learning from others.

Facilitators who love the art of bringing people together to create difference and who want to support their personal and professional development in a challenging-yet-safe space.

Can you give me an example of what you cover?

  1. Building inclusivity into our facilitation

  2. Creating “safe” spaces - what can we really promise as facilitators?

  3. Bringing the body into facilitation in different settings

How it works

As your hosts, we will help to create the container and a structure for the day, but this is very much a co-creation - we welcome you bringing your questions, practices, and curiosity into the space as we can all learn!

Who are we?

Julie Drybrough

Julie founded the Shindig in 2017, with the aim of creating welcoming, joyful spaces for practitioners to “rattle the foundations” of their existing methods in order to grow and stretch their practice.

Julie is a consultant, coach and facilitator with over 20 years experience and a global portfolio. Specialising in culture, OD and working with people and organisations in transition, her focus is working dialogically with individuals, teams and Boards to develop insights, mediate or support learning.

Julie works with a range of tools including Group Dialogue, Appreciative Inquiry, reflective writing and in-depth questioning. Her aim is to create long-lasting results with clients, getting underneath surface symptoms to address root-cause. Her approach is to blend Head (data & evidence) with Heart (emotion, values, identity) and Hands (practical actions, delivery and outputs).

Steph Danson (She/ They)

Steph is an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Practitioner, Project Coordinator, Wellbeing Champion and facilitator. They have over 9 years’ experience working in Corporate and Higher Education Environments with varied experience in the challenges that organisations face in their commitment to EDI, managing busy workloads and taking care of wellbeing.

Her work is centred around exploring key topics within Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, increasing awareness and inspiring change. Led with curiosity, compassion and a love for the diversity of human experience, Steph works with people seeking to take action to encourage inclusion, create change and empower others to do the same

Lex Ryder (They/ Them)

Lex is a Certified Embodied Facilitator helping overwhelmed individuals deepen their understanding of capacity, boundaries, and the complex ways in which power impacts their ability to say no.

When they are not helping people to thrive in the workplace, Lex also works with individuals who have experienced trauma or are coming to terms with different aspects of their identity such as gender, sexuality, and relationship orientation.
