Preparing young people for the professional world of Performing
Our Industry Experience Events are held in a safe and supportive environment, led by top industry professionals giving all the advice, knowledge, and top tips needed for both young people and their families for navigating the world of professional work as a young performer.
Industry Experience Days
At a typical Industry experience day, students will be part of a supportive, enriching and exciting experience. Following a friendly welcome and registration, all attendees are sorted into three age appropriate groups. The three groups will follow a carousel of three main industry experience workshops which are as follows:
Audition Workshop - This workshop is an upbeat class that gets the students warmed up, relaxed and comfortable. One of our vibrant workshop leaders will work on a combination of choreography, scene work and sometimes a song too. This friendly workshop class also allows students to build new relationships with others through group tasks and icebreakers.
Panel Auditions - Our students are given the opportunity to perform a pre learned piece. This might be a song or monologue or in some cases both. We welcome our students to prepare their own audition piece however we will also send out a selection of material that we know are perfect for auditions and show young people in the best light. We can have anywhere between 2-5 agents on the panel on the day who will give live constructive feedback to all students in the room. Where possible, we will try to give some brief written feedback to each attendee.
Headshot Sessions and App Practice - A professional photographer who has worked alongside agencies and the stars of the stage and screen will take headshots. Someone will be on hand to help our students with hair and make up where appropriate and we suggest that students bring a smart looking, neutral top (no logos or patterns) to wear for their headshots. All students will receive a gallery of images within a few weeks after the Experience day. One of these images will be free to download as part of the cost of the day. All the other images are purchasable. In addition to getting their headshots, within this session a member of the team will be on hand to take the students through some of the fantastic content available on the Audition Ready App.
Q&A for Parents - At the end of the day students will be brought back to their parents/guardians ready for a Q&A session. During this time we will give an overview of what the students have experienced, some top tips and next steps following the Industry Experience Day as well as taking questions from parents/guardians.
Join us for one of our Industry Experience Weeks
The Industry Experience week is held at the renowned Arts Ed in London. Much like the Industry Experience Day, all students are pre assigned a group based on their age who they will spend the week with. In this group they will work on rephrasing polished songs, dances and scenes that will be produced into a showcase performance at the end of the week. Our Teachers are seasoned professionals, and are experienced with supporting young people in audition preparation and performing arts education. The week is also peppered with masterclasses with visiting West End stars from some of London's biggest shows such as Frozen, Wicked and Six!
The Showcase at the end of the week is performed in the Andrew Lloyd Webber Theatre to an audience of Agents and Casting Directors as well as family and friends.
Acting for Screen Week
We all know learning in the performing arts is a real education. When it comes to acting, a particular skill to master is the difference between acting on stage and acting for screen. Our acting for screen week is a fun and insightful training experience where our students will learn and develop their skills in the subtleties of screen acting, along with useful tips and advice for working with directors, and in professional environments. Students will be poached by seasoned professionals from in front and behind the camera in the world of film.
