My Brothers' Keeper: A Retreat for Men of Color in Education
My Brothers’ Keeper is a bold, intersectional space specifically curated and designed by self-identified men of color for self-identified men of color in all of our diversity. As educators in predominantly white institutions, we share common experiences where we are not the “norm.” Therefore, our opportunities to gather as the majority are rare, making this space valuable. This professional development will aid our success in independent school systems by expanding our peer network, understanding the necessity of self-care, and providing the skills to navigate our identities in our workplace. Our weekend together will explore how we can connect, reflect and learn with one another. Knowing how necessary and transformative our voices are in independent schools, let us band together as brothers to empower ourselves, our students and our communities.
All events will be held in person in Olney, MD. Schedule runs from 7pm on April 16 (dinner included) through 12:30pm on April 19 (lunch included). All meals included. Registration with lodging includes a single occupancy room for check in on Friday and check out on Sunday.
Registration refundable at 50% until February 28, 2025. After that date, registration is not refundable but is transferable to next year's retreat (for you or for a different participant of your choosing).
