DESCRIPTION

Welcome to an active and engaging demonstration of preparing authentic Indian dishes from start to end. For certain key techniques and steps during the cooking, volunteers are invited from the attendees. All ingredients and equipment required for the class will be provided by us. You will be handed a recipe booklet to capture notes and take home.

Your session will end with a Q&A, followed by awarding a certificate of successful class completion. At the end of the class, you are free to socialise with other attendees and/or enjoy the food prepared during the class. YOU may also invite your family & friends to join you. The restaurant opens immediately as the cookery class concludes, so you are welcome to stay back, relax and savour some more off the menu if you wish.

SCHEDULE: 2nd Monday of Each Month (Odd Months)

TIMING: 9:00 am to 12:00 noon

  • Start (9:00 am) Attendees are welcomed, checked in & seated. Hot drinks are available and FREE to drive away any residual Monday sleep😊. Session begins.
  • End (noon) End of session with Q&A, presenting course completion certificate distribution and lunch to follow.

ITEMS COVERED

  1. Baigan Bharta (Vegan, Gluten Free) Popularly called ‘Olo’ in the Gujarat state of India, this is a very simple dish with grand flavours, made using roasted aubergine and common Indian spices and herbs. The simplicity of this dish is very captivating, as it accentuates the smoky flavours of the aubergine, without the other spices masking its presence.
  2. Pancharatna Daal (Vegan, Gluten Free) Pancha means five and Ratna means precious jewels. This daal or Indian lentil stew is made using 5 different boiled lentils, finished with seasoning and a tempering of spices and herbs.
  3. Chapati Or Roti (Vegan) A simple Indian flatbread made using whole wheat flour and cooked on the griddle.
  4. Jeera Rice (Vegan, Gluten Free) Fragrant basmati rice tempered with some crackling cumin for a subtle earthly aroma & flavour.
  5. Sambharo (Vegan, Gluten Free) Gujarat’s favourite salad made using carrots and cabbage.
