We are so excited for Brainchild Festival 2017. After the last few years of making this happen, so many wonderful people have become part of the Brainchild networks and this is the weekend to celebrate all their ideas, creative projects and beyond.
The 2016 festival was a dream come true and we cannot wait to build on all it made happen, from the introduction of the silent disco to The Shack's move into the woods, or the led discussions and jam sessions. This year, our programme will be stitch together live music, spoken word, DJ sets, talks, workshops, film, theatre and installation art, as well as focus on new collaborations and special projects just for the festival.
We are a volunteer-led festival, powered by a DIY spirit and a deep love of creative community that's grown around this project. Brainchild is a place with no VIP areas, a place where artists, crew and punters camp together and where immersive and interdisciplinary work is pushed to the forefront. We want everyone who is part of Brainchild to come away having found new inspiration and had great conversations. It's a place to make new friends, discover new ways of seeing things and ignite creativity through the many opportunities to perform and get involved across the site.
Whether your thing is dance music late at the Shack, drag kings, spoken word and panel debates at The Forum, film screenings with live scores at the cinema, jamming at the Steez Cafe or grooving out at the Brainstage, the festival is made up of bold and imaginative creative work from wonderful people, sharing at a peer to peer level.
Intimacy and familiarity are key to Brainchild's atmosphere, so this year we are growing the festival's capacity but only up to 2000 people (on from 1600 last year).
If you want to share your thing, make or perform, get in touch with us and we'll see what we can do.
Big big love!
