Description
Analogue Dreamscapes: An Introduction to 16mm film
A technical and practical introduction into shooting on 16mm film, and working with a Bolex camera.
This workshop will run through all the basics of working with 16mm film. It will take you through the mechanisms of a Bolex and chosing film stock, using a light meter. We will then consider how working with analogue film can be a tool to experiment with the interplay between image and time. We will use these learnings to shoot a series of analogue dreamscapes on a roll of black and white 16mm film stock. (One roll of film for the group, 30 seconds of film per participant). After the workshop, films will be developed, scanned and sent to each participant.
The workshop format will include group discussions, demonstrations and practical exercises. You are free to participate as much or as little as you like. I am beyond excited to share the space with you all, learn from one another and explore this together. No previous experience is necessary for the workshop.
I am really excited that the workshops will be hosted at The Soanes Centre. It is a really incredible space and I am grateful to the Kin Structures team for their support. The Soanes Centre is fully accessible, it has an accessible toilet and the main pond and main paths of the park are also wheelchair accessible.
The tickets are priced on a sliding scale. 'The Green Bottle' may help determine where you fall on the scale. The workshop has capacity for 5 participants.
Please let me know if you have any other questions or access requirements. I can't wait to meet you all, and learn from you and exchange ideas and practices.
Warmest,
Bea
