Analogue Dreamscapes: Black and White 16mm
Sun 26 Jan 2025 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Lewisham Arthouse, SE14 6PD
Description
A technical and practical introduction into shooting on 16mm film, and working with a Bolex camera.
This workshop will run through all the basics of working with 16mm film. It will take you through the mechanisms of a Bolex and chosing film stock, using a light meter. We will then consider how working with analogue film can be a tool to experiment with the interplay between image and time. We will use these learnings to shoot a series of analogue dreamscapes on a roll of black and white 16mm film stock. (One roll of film for the group, 30 seconds of film per participant). After the workshop, films will be developed, scanned and sent to each participant.
The workshop format will include group discussions, demonstrations and practical exercises. You are free to participate as much or as little as you like. I am beyond excited to share the space with you all, learn from one another and explore this together. No previous experience is necessary for the workshop.
These workshops are supported by the incredible On8mil!
The workshops are for those currently under represented in the film industry (women, trans and non binary people, BIPOC people, queer people and disabled people). The concession ticket is reserved for BIPOC.
The workshop will be hosted at Lewisham Art House, 140 Lewisham Way, London SE14 6PD.Please let me know if you have any other questions or access requirements. I can't wait to meet you all, and learn from you and exchange ideas and practices.
With warmth and gratitude,
