Rainbow Boroughs Pride Marching Group
Sat 29 Jun 2024 1:30 PM - 5:30 PM
London
Description
We have registered to take part in the Pride in London Parade on Saturday 29th June 2024, and have secured 75 wristbands.
We will be in section L position 19
We aim to meet at 1.30 pm at The Audley Public House on 42-43 Mount Street, where we will be joining the parade. Once everyone has met up, we will give out free t-shirts and wristbands, and then walk to the entry point on Mount Street. We need to arrive at the entry point together between 2.20 to 2.50 pm.
We will then be in the pre-parade holding area for about 60-90 minutes before the parade sets off (between 4-4.30 pm).
It will take about an hour to walk the length of the parade down to Whitehall.
Dispersal will take about 15 minutes so we expect our part in the parade will be over by 5.30-6 pm.
Members of 17-24-30 have marched in every Pride in London Parade since 2009, and this will be the 4th year carrying the Admiral Duncan Memorial Banner - and walking in solidarity with those affected by the attacks on Brixton, Brick Lane and Soho.
This year is the 25th anniversary of those awful attacks.
Our colour scheme this year is Purple and Rainbow - Purple as a symbolic nod to Spirit Day (solidarity with young LGBT+ people), and Rainbow as a symbolic nod to our wonderful inclusive LGBT+ community.
We will be handing out 50 free Purple T-shirts with our "We Stand Together - Love is Stronger than Hate" design.
Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis - we will contact those who sign up a few days before the 29th June to let you know where we will be meeting up on the day. We also have a WhatsApp group for our Pride Marchers so we can stay in contact between marching, and share photos and friendship together.
Our aim is to provide an inclusive LGBT+ space on the parade, we especially welcome LGBT+ people and allies coming from the London Boroughs that don't have their own local Borough LGBT+ Forums.
