Junior Improv Theatre: 4 Week Improv Course for Young People with Lena Ivros. Mondays at 4:30pm

Ο Ελληνικός Πολυχώρος, the new centre for community in Downtown Athens is pleased to welcome Lena's Improv Place for a foundation course for young people to experience the magic of improv theatre over a 4 week course starting on Monday 5th October at 4:30pm with the wonderful Lena Ivros.

Starting on 2nd November, the intermediate course will begin for another 4 week run until the 23rd.

Every Monday for 4 weeks we will meet at "Avli" at OEP Athens for 2 hours of fun, games and improv that will bring so much to the young people in your life!

Lena Ivros is an improv theatre instructor based in Athens, with a background teaching in both Greece and Belgium.

Alongside improv, she facilitates children's theatre camps and teaches meditation, bringing a calm, grounded presence into everything she does.
Lena believes that real play only happens when people feel safe. Her classes are built on empathy, patience and genuine care for each participant, whatever their age or confidence level.

She creates a space where mistakes are welcome, everyone is heard, and people can show up exactly as they are. Her approach blends the playfulness of improv with the presence and attentiveness of a meditation teacher, making her classes as much about connection and wellbeing as they are about creativity and fun.

Children aged 7-15 can come along and be in the excellent care of Lena, a highly experienced Improv Theatre teacher who speaks English, Greek and Dutch: however all children are welcome as in improv, spoken language isn't the most important way to communicate!

Improv is excellent for young people! It builds confidence, enhances communication and fosters creative problem-solving. 

By operating on the core rule of "yes, and..." kids learn to accept others' ideas, think quickly on their feet, and overcome the fear of making mistakes in a safe environment.

Boosts Confidence: By performing without a script, children overcome shyness, lower their perfectionism, and learn to embrace mistakes as "beautiful" parts of the process.

Teaches Active Listening: Improv forces kids to stay completely present. To build a scene, they must intently listen to their partners and respect others’ contributions.

Improves Communication: Children learn to articulate their thoughts and emotions, helping them navigate social interactions effectively and make friends.

Builds Resilience and Adaptability: Because improv is unpredictable, it trains children to accept curveballs, tolerate uncertainty, and adapt on the fly.

Unleashes Creativity: It serves as an advanced form of pretend play, encouraging divergent thinking and allowing kids to imagine endless possibilities.

Bringing your kids to Junior Improv at Ο Ελληνικός Πολυχώρος can only be a good thing! We will give them something to drink and you can take a break, have a coffee or explore Psirri for a couple of hours. Your children will be in excellent hands!

This is a foundation course made of 4, 2 hour sessions, allow your kids to explore improv theater and develop their skills in performance, confidence and mobility while making friends and building community.

Cancellation Policy

1. Cancel at least 72 hours before class for a full refund.
2. Cancel between 48 and 72 hours before class for credit toward a future session (no refund). Credit must be used within 2 months.
3. Cancellations inside 48 hours aren’t eligible for refund or credit.
4. Intermediate and Advanced students who miss a class can attend a beginner class instead, at no extra cost, subject to space within the same month.
If I need to cancel a class (illness, low enrolment, etc.), you’ll first be offered a makeup class. If that doesn’t work for you, you’ll receive full credit or a refund, your choice.

No-shows aren’t eligible for refund or credit, but reach out, life happens and exceptions are considered case by case.
