She is studying for semicha at Yeshivat Maharat, and is one of the first few Orthodox Jewish British women to embark on an ordination programme. Following a degree in Theology and Religious Studies from Cambridge, she has worked in inter-faith dialogue, community leadership, and is a BBC Pause for Thought contributor. Miriam is a co-founder of Kehillat Nashira, the Borehamwood Partnership Minyan. She is a Bnei Mitzvah teacher, an engaged couples teacher and part of Wellspring - the Mikveh Project UK.
Maureen Kendler died in February 2018 after a short illness. She was an inspirational Jewish educator, writer and broadcaster who believed passionately that Jewish women’s opportunities for involvement in many aspects of Jewish life were limited by a lack of Jewish education. The Maureen Kendler Educational Trust provides bursaries to encourage Jewish women to undertake advanced studies in Judaism so that they can follow Maureen’s example and play more active roles in their communities.
