Much of the focus of the Haggadah and the early part of the Seder seems to be focused around children and keeping them interested, but in many ways the problem of engagement is true for adults as well. In this session, we will examine how the rabbis acted to ensure that children were a Seder priority and what that meant in terms of how quickly we should proceed on Seder night and whether these ideas are pertinent for grownups as well. How do we keep everyone engaged? Should we rush to the meal and only have longer discussions afterward, or linger during the Seder at each important point in order to fully understand what we are doing at every juncture? And finally, how can we convert some of the key Haggadah moments, such as the section of the "Four Sons," into important conversations on Seder night and throughout the year?
