Fowler 3F 16440 at Keighley and Worth Valley Railway
With thanks to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway along with Midland Railway-Butterley custodians on Fowler 3F 16440 we are pleased to present a day with the engine whilst it visits for the railways gala . We will run with a short goods rake and will start from Oxenhope . We have asked if the engine can face towards Keighley for the morning , turning at Lunch and facing towards Oxenhope for the afternoon
Travel will be on the train with a couple of brake vans to accomodate us
Built at North British Loco works in Glasgow in 1927 as 16440 , the engine subsequently became 7357 and under British Railways 47357 . Rescued from Barry it became the last steam locomotive overhauled at Derby Works . It was outshopped in LMS early lined Maroon and became immortalised as a Hornby model . It most recent overhaul which saw it return to steam in 2023 has seen it back in this LMS Maroon
This will be the first Fowler 3f to run at Keighley for over a decade
