Richmond Light Railway

We are delighted to offer a second exclusive day of photography at the Richmond Light Railway, near Tonbridge in Kent. This is a rare opportunity to photograph a private railway in action, with full access to the line and no public crowds.Throughout the day, two steam locomotives will be operating with freight stock, along with additional photographic setups across the line. We also hope to include a small number of internal combustion locomotives in operation and subject to numbers a possible third engine.

Locomotives in action:

• Arnold Jung 0-4-0 No. 3175 of 1921 “Jenny”

Recently overhauled, “Jenny” has an interesting international history, having originally worked at a timber mill in Argentina. It was brought to the UK in 2002 by Jeremy Martin in an unrestored condition, sold on to a private owner near Bristol who started restoration. Ownership transfer again and was completed at Statfold Barn Railway before returning to the Richmond Light Railway.

• Bagnall 0-4-0 No. 2090 of 1919 “Pixie”

A well-known locomotive associated with Teddy Boston’s Cadeby Light Railway in Leicestershire, “Pixie” proved very popular during last year’s event, hence another day by popular request.

Both locomotives are finished in a very similar green livery and will look excellent working side by side, providing an opportunity to capture them together in a cohesive and highly photogenic pairing.

The day will be carefully structured to provide a variety of photographic opportunities, including different working poses, freight movements and staged scenes featuring vintage road vehicles alongside the railway operations.
