Please note: This course is run in parallel with a Forest School First Aid course. The training will cover both syllabuses including, where Booked by others, Paediatric First Aid.
Please note:This course is also run in parallel with a Blended First Aid at Work course. If you are looking for this qualification, note that there is a 6 hour online part to be taken and completed before the public course date.
This course is recommended for anyone that needs a 16 hour Outdoor course, however we would not recommend it for more extreme Outdoor leaders, such as Expedition Leaders outside the UK. There are other Outdoor courses (such as Remote First Aid) from other Providers that focus more on the survival strategies that these environments present. This course is recommended for UK-based leaders for less intense activities such as Rambling, canoeing, hill walking, climbing, cycling etc.
This course is aligned with the Institute of Outdoor Learning’s Statement of Good Practice for Outdoor First Aid at Band 3.
As such it does meet the requirements for any Governing Body requiring a 16 hour Outdoor First Aid qualification.
It is certified internally by 4 Minutes Training.
Topics include: roles & responsibilities, dealing with collapse (with and without breathing), choking, bleeding, shock, major illnesses, torso and limb injuries, environmental effects, heat and cold injuries, using first aid kit, outdoor specific scenarios, outdoor incident management and looking after a casualty for more than 10 minutes.
This course is designed to provide outdoor incident management skills. Typical delivery methods are predominantly practical, with elements occurring out of doors in outdoor clothing and on various terrains.
Minimum age for attending is 16, however there may be specific age limits within your workplace. Check before you Book.
Directions: Directions to the venue will be sent by email once Booking is made. Please wear clothing appropriate to the outdoor environment.
