Introduction to Mediterranean Eating for Families

Welcome to a fun, engaging, and hands-on culinary experience where families cook alongside AdventHealth’s Dr. Angela Fals, Pediatric Board-Certified Obesity Medicine physician and Certified Culinary Medicine Specialist, and Allison Harrell, Registered Dietitian and Certified Culinary Medicine Specialist. 

You’ll learn kitchen basics like recipe reading, knife skills, measuring, and simple techniques, while preparing Mediterranean-inspired dishes designed to be realistic for busy family life. Bring your appetite, build confidence, and leave with skills you’ll be ready to use each time you prepare a meal.  


What You’ll Experience

Discover how one classic family favorite can evolve into a variety of delicious, nourishing meals. You'll prepare a progressive spaghetti dinner, beginning with the traditional spaghetti and meat sauce, then exploring fresh, plant-forward variations that are just as satisfying. Leave with practical recipes, new techniques, and creative ways to bring more wholesome, family-friendly meals to your table.

  • Learn kitchen basics including: recipe reading, knife skills, measuring, and time-saving tips.
  • Harvest herbs from 4Roots raised garden beds.
  • Hands-on creation and sampling of flavorful pasta sauces.
  • Conversation with Dr. Fals and Allison on how food creates the foundations for health and wellness.
  • Guided 4Roots Farm tour.
