School of Kindness: Mental Health Awareness Week Virtual Assembly

Age Groups: Suitable for Key Stage 1 and 2
Length: Approx 30 minutes
Number of children per assembly: This assembly is open to approx 150 schools. Feel free to have as many classes taking part in the assembly as you wish (but please note, as space is limited, your school may view the workshop on a maximum of 10 screens. If you require more screens, please contact us before booking on jaime@52-lives.org).
Format:
It is a Zoom webinar format, so schools will not be able to see each other and our facilitator cannot see the children. Teachers can ask and answer questions on behalf of the children using the chat box.

What Happens in the Assembly?
The assembly will be led by our Director of Kindness, Greig Trout, who will share a presentation and ask questions along the way. The presentation will cover:

  • What is Mental Health Awareness Week and why do we celebrate it?
  • What is mental health?
  • How everyone struggles with their thoughts and feelings sometimes – it’s perfectly normal.
  • The theme of Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 - which is taking 'action' to help ourselves and help others.
  • Actions we can take to look after our mental health (including things such as talking to a trusted person, exercise, nutrition, spending time in nature).
  • The science of kindness and the role kindness / self-kindness can play in improving our mental health

Resources Needed
We have a printable activity sheet the children may wish to complete after the assembly - this will be sent to you nearer the time.
