60 Miles Presents: Community Comics - The Exhibition
All summer, we have been busily creating a comic book anthology, focusing on local communities that exist outside the mainstream narrative of Northamptonshire's rich social history.
Six local community groups have been paired with an Artist and Heritage Communicator to capture the range of experiences that make up our county through an exciting range of perspectives, forms and styles.
Each artist has created a 10-page comic following 3 visits with their chosen group to explore stories, ideas and experiences. The comics are being expanded on by our Heritage Communicators through forms like audio, creative writing, and graphics. An oral history interview has also been recorded with a member of each group and will be part of the East Midlands Oral History Archive.
Crucially, all of the material will be collated into a single anthology, uniting experiences together for people now and in the future.
This exhibition will showcase extracts of the comic books, audio recording, pieces of writing and other creative gems!
60 Miles presents: Community Comics is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Using money raised by National Lottery players, The National Lottery Heritage Fund supports projects that connect people and communities with the UK’s heritage.
