Chappellet: The Height of Napa Cabernet

When Donn and Molly Chappellet founded Chappellet in 1967, they chose a different path from their contemporaries, looking beyond the Napa Valley floor to the region’s steep, rugged hillsides. There, in the six decades since, they have helped establish Pritchard Hill as one of California’s most acclaimed terroirs.

High above the Napa Valley, Pritchard Hill's steep slopes, volcanic soils and remarkable patchwork of elevations and microclimates have made it the source of wines with exceptional concentration, structure and longevity – one of Napa’s grands crus, if you will. And Chappellet’s intense, ageworthy Cabernet have come to embody the mix of power and purity that defines this increasingly heralded Napa sub-region.

We are delighted to welcome David Francke, President of Chappellet, to 67 on Hollywood

to showcase this identity. Over the course of three decades, David has established a reputation as one of most respected and innovative leaders in the Californian wine industry. A long-time manager of the Robert Mondavi Winery, he joined the board of Chappellet in 2017 – the year the property celebrated its 50th anniversary – and today works with the second generation to steward its future, with a notable focus on sustainable farming.

David will guide Members through two contrasting flights spanning the last 15 years: first, the Signature Cabernet Sauvignon, revealing how Chappellet's house style has developed across time; followed by the estate's flagship Pritchard Hill Cabernet Sauvignon from three lauded vintages.
