Founded by Gustav Niebaum, a Finnish sea captain in 1879, Inglenook plays a prominent role in defining Napa Valley as one of the great wine regions in the world. The famed filmmaker Francis Coppola and his wife, Eleanor Coppola, first purchased a portion of what had been the Inglenook estate. The Coppolas soon discovered the treasure of what they now own and vowed to reunite all the land from the estate, and Inglenook was finally reunited to its historic name in 2011.

At the helm of Inglenook is Philippe Bascaules, who became the Director of Winemaking after spending 21 years at Chateau Mârgaux. Drawing on his esteemed experience from Bordeaux, Philippe arrived in Napa Valley with a vision to marry Inglenook's storied terroir with contemporary winemaking excellence.
