An Australian Take on the Old World
Wed 20 Nov 2024 11:30 AM - 8:30 PM
The Trust Melbourne, 405 Flinders Lane, Melbourne 3000
Description
We’re back at the Trust with An Australian Take on the Old World...
Australia as a wine-producing country has some of the most exciting regional diversity on the planet, with producers sourcing grape varieties with increasing novelty and creativity from Old World regions all over the world as temperatures change and new regions are established on our home soil.
While all varieties in Australia are from the Old World, rarely do we have the opportunity to taste them side by side with their traditional regional counterparts. To be able to compare how Australian Nebbiolo differs from Piedmontese, to consider how Champagne and Tasmanian sparkling might coexist on your table, to discuss how Riesling in Germany and Austria expresses itself in contrast to the sunnier climes of South Australia, without residual sugar always being the topical point. Our latest event combines masterclass formats – hosted by our Head of Wine for Asia Richard Hemming MW – and a walkaround tasting to showcase these similarities and differences, to celebrate the truly great diversity of Australian winemaking and viticulture.
