One of Australia’s most venerable family-owned producers, Henschke has, since its founding in 1868, shaped the country's vinous landscape. Today it stands as a benchmark of the fine wine scene. And at the heart of this status is its commitment to site-specific wines drawn from old-vine vineyards – epitomised by the renowned Eden Valley Shiraz, Hill of Grace.
Six generations of the Henschke family have served as custodians and pioneers in their home region of Eden Valley, and their influence on Australian viticulture – and most recently Stephen and Prue Henschke's work in protecting Australia's old-vine heritage – cannot be overstated.
As part of the family's annual release of their Museum and Rare Collection, we invite Members to join Senior Winemaker Gwyn Olsen for an extraordinary masterclass featuring older vintages of a number of the family's most recognisable single-vineyard wines, including Cyril Henschke Cabernet, The Wheelright and Mount Edelstone. We will finish with the lauded Hill of Roses – made from a selection of 1989 plantings on a singular plot on the original Hill of Grace site – alongside two vintages of Hill of Grace itself.
The wines we will taste:
MV Henschke Johanne Ida Selma Blanc de Noir, Mature Disgorged, Adelaide Hills
2016 Henschke Keyneton Euphonium Shiraz Blend, Barossa and Eden Valley
2016 Henschke Cyril Henschke Cabernet Sauvignon, Eden Valley
