An Evening with Mount Mary – and six vintages of Quintet
An Evening with Mount Mary – and six vintages of Quintet
Share this event
Established by John and Marli Middleton in 1971, Mount Mary was a pioneering presence in the resurgence of the Yarra Valley as a premium wine-producing region. Amid this evolution, its flagship Bordeaux Blend - Quintet – has come to stand as one of Australia's most elegant examples of the style, and today sits among the country’s most collected wines.
Now with approximately 40 acres under vine, planted to 18 varieties, Mount Mary is led by third-generation Sam Middleton, who continues to produce both Bordeaux- and Burgundy-inspired bottlings while safeguarding the producer’s legacy into the future.
As part of that mission, the family's approach to viticulture has a distinct focus on sustainability and futureproofing, be it via new rooted plantings on cooler sites or the move towards long-term energy sources and water self-sufficiency. Though not organic or biodynamic, every part of the process, from hand harvesting to bottling, takes place on site – as does the traditional annual release that, for many an Australian wine lover, marks a significant weekend in the spring calendar.
We invite Members to join Sam Middleton in an exploration of Mount Mary's estate bottlings, with select vintages of the estate's Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and white Bordeaux blend – Triolet - followed by a vertical of Quintet back to 2010. An extraordinary opportunity to taste through time and perhaps inform your current – or future – cellar selection...
