Dinner with Charles de Bournet Marnier Lapostolle of Chilean superstar Clos Apalta

Founded in 1994 by the Marnier Lapostolle family of Grand Marnier fame – with the help of superstar (and since ever-present) consultant winemaker Michel Rolland – Casa Lapostolle stands as one of the pioneers of the Chilean fine wine scene.

Nestled in the Colchagua Valley, the estate’s amphitheatre-shaped Clos Apalta vineyard is planted with century-old Carménère, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon vines, yielding wines of extraordinary depth and balance. Organic and biodynamic practices harness the richness and complexity of the Colchagua terroir on an old-vine, steep hillside site.

Wine Spectator’s first Chilean Wine of the Year, back in 2008, Clos Apalta stands as a benchmark for South American fine wine. It is known for its power, elegance and ageing potential, with judicious French oak enhancing its depth and structure.

We’re delighted to welcome seventh-generation Charles de Bournet Marnier Lapostolle, CEO and driving force behind Domaines Bournet-Lapostolle, to host a special dinner. Educated in Europe, Charles brings a global perspective to the business, and has been a major champion of sustainable viticulture. More recently he launched Clos du Lican, a bold and elegant, small-production Syrah, which we will taste alongside three vintages of Clos Apalta – including two late releases – as well as its second and third wines.
