A long weekend in Bordeaux, golf in the mornings and some of the Médoc's most celebrated estates by evening.

Golf and Bordeaux: two of life's great pleasures, and a pairing we are very excited to bring to Members at the end of September.

We've put together an itinerary that does justice to both, with mornings on the fairways at Cabot Bordeaux, and afternoons and evenings at some of the region's most celebrated estates. Cabot Bordeaux is home to two 18-hole courses; Châteaux offers open, heathland-style golf with firm turf and plenty of risk-reward holes, and Vignes is more enclosed, winding through pines and heather. Together, they make Cabot Bordeaux one of Europe's finest golf destinations.

And the vinous counterpart: a tasting at Château Latour, dinner at Château Beychevelle, and La Maison d'Estournel as your home for the trip.

24th September · Day One
Arrival in Bordeaux

The trip begins from the moment you land.

Transfers from Bordeaux-Mérignac or your private airfield are arranged to suit your schedule, whisking you straight to La Maison d'Estournel, a beautifully restored 18th-century mansion set among the Médoc vines, next door to the legendary Château Cos d'Estournel. 

The evening begins around the table at Le Restaurant de La Maison d'Estournel.

25th September · Day Two
Beyond the 18th: Latour & Beychevelle

After breakfast at La Maison d'Estournel, Members take to the fairways of Cabot Bordeaux for a full 18-hole round, with golf pro Gregori Baumann providing pre round and on course tips for the two days,  finishing with lunch overlooking the course.

"La Tour" vanished centuries ago; in its place, a modest stone dovecote from the 1620s became the symbol of one of the world's most recognised labels.

From there, we head to one of the most famous wine estates on the planet, Château Latour. Whilst the tower built to defend the estuary is long gone, the dovecote that replaced it remains instantly recognisable on the label today.

We then venture to Château Beychevelle, the so-called Versailles of Bordeaux, and it's easy to see why. The estate has its own private port on the Gironde, the gardens are extraordinary, and tucked behind those glass-walled cellars is a winery unlike anything else in the Médoc.

26th September · Day Three
A Round at Cabot & Cos d'Estournel

After breakfast at La Maison d'Estournel, we head back to Cabot Bordeaux for another morning on the course. Lunch at the clubhouse sets us up for the afternoon, before we make our way to one of Saint-Estèphe's most striking estates, Cos d'Estournel.

This estate doesn't look like any other winery in Bordeaux. Its founder was obsessed with the Orient, traded wine as far as India, and earned the nickname "the Maharajah of Saint-Estèphe," channelling all of it into a building complete with pagodas, elephant carvings and a front door imported from the Sultan of Zanzibar's palace.

We'll enjoy a line-up of these "super seconds," before a fine wine dinner. Exact details to be announced shortly.

27th September · Day Four
À Bientôt, Bordeaux

We round off the trip with lunch at Racines, where Scottish chef Daniel Gallacher has made himself something of a Bordeaux institution, creative, market-led cooking that changes daily and never disappoints. We couldn't think of a better way to draw the curtain on what promises to be a spectacular few days in Bordeaux.
