LD Deutsch is a writer based in Los Angeles. Her work focuses on time, consciousness, technology, mythology and the fall of the materialist paradigm. Known for her ability to render complicated scientific and esoteric subjects accessible for wider audiences, Deutsch’s essays and lectures present grounded yet playful takes on some of life’s greatest mysteries. By treating both science and metaphysics/mysticism as serious subjects worthy of respect and rigor, Deutsch’s work opens up new avenues of thought and theory as to how the inner world of man and the outer world of Nature intersect and affect each other.

Her first book, Time, Myth & Matter: Essays on the Natures and Narratives of Reality will be published by Sacred Bones Books in May 2025.

In her talk for 69 Atlantic, Deutsch will examine the boundaries of what we consider “magic” in a post-materialist paradigm. When the bottom of reality has no bottom at all, where do we draw the line between the impossible and real?
