Malin Nilsson // Magic from Sweden (2/5-14)
February 5th - 14th @ 7:15pm & 9:30pm
Like a gust of Viking wind from the shores of the Baltic Sea, Malin Nilsson bursts into the theater with refreshing energy and power.
Born in Sweden to a family of magicians, Malin has been performing as long as she can remember. Now, after 20 years of touring the world, she will finally make her New York City debut at 69 Atlantic.
Malin is famous for her vivacious personality and wild creativity. She designs and constructs many of her props and costumes herself, drawing inspiration everywhere from Tom Waits to the Marx Brothers.
With a vaudeville cap atop her flowing blonde locks, Malin presents a madcap blend of magic and clown. Her whimsical style is tinged with a darker, macabre edge, and that eccentric blend has won her many fans (as well as a fellowship award from the Adelaide Fringe Festival).
Malin's special interest is researching the parallels between magic and algorithmic trading, in combination with magic techniques used for non-entertainment purposes. The work has resulted in the shows: The Standard Length of a Miracle, Zero Magic and Acid Money.
Come enjoy a magical evening with a truly original artistic talent.
