Tower Olympus
Will hubris undo mankind...before it undoes the gods instead?
The Greek age of heroes is coming to a close. Factions have arisen promising protection against new threats and monsters, taking offerings from the common folk to vie for the favour of the gods. Will civilisation grow and flourish, or be cast down by barbarian hordes from the wider world?
In Olympus itself, a tower is being built tall enough to reach the sky. Perhaps its builders, looking down, will have their eyes opened and become as gods. But how much free real estate is there in the heavens?
This is a megagame
Tower Olympus is a game for 40-50 players set in a world where all of Greek mythology is true and the Hellenic age never ended: the Romans are a century late and counting. Most players are mortals, in teams of 2: one Steward (or priest-king, or tyrant, or god-emperor, etc) managing their workers and soldiers and trading with other teams, and one Chosen going on great quests, communing with the gods and trying to interpret their signs. A few will play the gods and demigods of the Greek pantheon - one big team of twelve, or twelve teams of one, depending on your perspective, each with their own vision for the mortal realm. Conflict will be rife, but to flourish and succeed you'll need to find stable trading partners and make larger alliances.
The game has simple board game style rules tracking progress in a rich narrative. Your focus will be on engine-building, resource management, and trade, but there's also space for you to come up with creative solutions to problems: if there isn't a rule for the thing you want to do, we'll make one on the fly. Unlike many games, there's no single winner; many teams can achieve their goals, and even for those who don't, their journey through the day forms part of the wider narrative.
Your story will echo through the ages
You'll be assigned a role in the run-up to the game - and you'll have the chance to let us know what sort of play-style you prefer. Different factions, and roles within those factions, will engage with the game in very different ways. With plenty of variety we'll aim to put you in the role that you'll find most fun.
Due to safeguarding limitations, we unfortunately aren't able to accommodate players under the age of 18 at this game.
