Abstract

In the wake of continuous sea level rising, cities must protect their coasts with seawalls. The preferred solution for seawalls globally is steel sheet piling because of its ease of installation and proven life expectancy. In this presentation we will briefly go over key aspects to consider while designing and building steel sheet piling seawalls. Sheet piles are also the most used earth retention method in congested urban areas, particularly to allow the construction of new foundations. We will cover the new technologies available to mitigate damages to existing structures while performing pile driving.
