Across Wales more and more vineyards are being planted and Welsh winemakers are being celebrated internationally.
Many of these are growing using low intervention methods, as part of a global sustainable wine movement.
Abergavenny Unfiltered – the first festival to celebrate natural and Welsh wines – will open up your tastebuds to exciting new developments in wine.
Taste the wine, talk with the growers and the chefs who love it . Enjoy a full two-day entry for £60, which includes discussions with tastings (x2), food pairings (x2) and open tastings (x2)
The event includes:
Saturday
- Introduction to natural wines: Lloyd Beedell (Chesters Wine Merchants), Ben Llewellyn (Carte Blanch Wines), Clare Thomson (5oclockapron), Jean du Plessis (Ancre Hill Vineyard). Panel discussion and tasting.
- Paired food and wine tasting: Dried fish and natural wines. Owen Morgan (Group Bar 44) and Kate Hawkings (wine expert and writer) with Ben Llewellyn.
- Walk Around Tasting #1: Try a selection of low intervention and Welsh wines, meet and chat with producers.
Sunday
- Natural wine - is it really happening in Wales? Panel discussion and tasting hosted by Joel Wright (Wright's Wines).
- Plant based food and natural wine. What do you pair with pulses and veg? Alex Vines (Ogof, Cardiff) with Joel Wright. Paired food and wine tasting.
- Developing a sustainable wine cluster in Monmouthshire: David Morris (Mountain People Wine), Sarah Dickins and Nick Miller (O'r Tir Vineyard) and Duncan Reed (Tiggy on the Hill Vineyard). Panel discussion and tasting.
- Walk Around Tasting #2: Try a selection of low intervention and Welsh wines, meet and chat with producers.
