Career Conversations…with Phil Cheeseman (Lancaster)
This is the second in our new series of Career Conversations.
We're asking members of staff in ALN libraries to share and explain their route into libraries and their progress to their current role. We're hoping to have sessions from staff with lots of different and diverse backgrounds and with lots of different and diverse ways into the profession.
Phil Cheeseman has been a member of the library leadership team at Lancaster since 2013, where he has had oversight for Teaching and Engagement, Learning Development and Special Collections and Archives.
He is now the Interim Director of Library Services and Learning Development at Lancaster.
Phil has worked in university libraries for 22 years, and has a broad range of experience that includes elearning, building projects, TNE partnerships, staff and organisational development, library relationship management, and strategy development. He is actively involved at a sector level and has held leadership roles in Academic Libraries North and Research Libraries UK.
Phil never planned to work in Libraries. He has no library qualification and had an unconventional journey to his current role. Join him on a career journey from laboratory to classroom to library and hear how each step along the way led to him finding his home, his people and his vocation.
