Angela Jiao - Associate, Torys
Angela practices corporate/commercial law with a focus on complex technology transactions. Angela regularly advises clients on commercial transactions involving technology development, outsourcing, procurement and the licensing and conveyancing of hardware, software and other intellectual property. Angela’s practice focuses on understanding the risks of acquiring and implementing technology and mitigating those risks to ensure a successful outcome.

Dr. Sherry Shannon-Vanstone - CEO, Profound Impact
Dr. Sherry Shannon-Vanstone is a pioneering tech entrepreneur with a strong background in information security. With a MSc. in mathematics and experience as a cryptologic mathematician for the US Government, she has held key roles in companies like MasterCard, Cylink, Certicom, and TrustPoint Innovation. Sherry played a pivotal role in commercializing Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), a security standard now used in all mobile devices. In 2018, she founded Profound Impact, a data analytics firm matching researchers with funding opportunities. Sherry has received numerous accolades, including an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Western University and the Leadership Excellence Award in Entrepreneurship from Women in Communications and Technology. She currently serves on several boards, is an active angel investor, and is a sought-after speaker on entrepreneurship and corporate culture. Sherry remains committed to her mission of connecting great people to achieve remarkable outcomes.
Ibukun Elebute - COO, CELLECT
Ibukun Elebute is the Co-Founder and COO of CELLECT, a pioneering startup dedicated to advancing women's health through innovative DNA collection technology. With over a decade of experience in healthcare technology and a Master's in Biomedical Engineering, Ibukun is passionate about integrating STEM education into real-world solutions. She is also the founder of The STEMite Zone Fair, a not-for-profit organization focused on nurturing the next generation of African innovators. Ibukun's work centers on empowering young minds through STEM, ensuring that education translates into meaningful impact, especially in underserved communities.
Dinah Davis - Founder, Code Like a Girl
Dinah Davis originally planned to become a math teacher at her high school guidance counsellor’s suggestion because that’s what girls who are good at math do, right?!
While at university, to become a teacher, Dinah discovered math and computer science. Her co-op experience at the Canadian Security Establishment introduced her to cybersecurity, the perfect math and computer science mix. She has spent over 20 years working in tech and cybersecurity at BlackBerry, TrustWave, D2L, and Arctic Wolf. In 2015, she founded codelikeagirl.io so that other girls who are good at math know the variety of jobs available for them, not just teaching.
Taillte May - PhD Student, Perimeter Institute
Taillte May is a PhD candidate entering her final year at the Perimeter Institute, specializing in the study of black holes and gravitational waves. Her research combines both computational methods and analytical analysis to advance our understanding of these complex astrophysical phenomena. Originally from Ireland, Taillte completed her undergraduate degree at Trinity College Dublin, where she founded a Women in STEM group to promote gender equality and support for women pursuing science and technology fields. Her commitment to women in technology has grown alongside her academic journey, driving her to advocate for greater diversity and inclusion within the scientific community.
