The Cultural Learning Alliance Capabilities Framework: What Is It and How Might It Inform Art Education in your School?
Monday 20th October 4.00-5.00pm BST.
Free for AccessArt Members and Non-Members.
Aimed at: Classroom Teachers, Art Leads, SLT, Artist Educators and Policy Makers.
Join us for an insightful session in collaboration with the Cultural Learning Alliance (CLA)—a leading voice in arts and cultural education, offering vital news, analysis, and advocacy across the sector.
We are delighted to welcome Sally Bacon OBE, CLA Executive Co-Chair, and Jacqui O’Hanlon MBE, Deputy Executive Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company and Chair of CLA’s Evidence and Value Narrative Working Group. Together, Sally and Jacqui will introduce the CLA Arts Capability Framework—a set of core pillars that define the capabilities and qualities nurtured through engagement with expressive arts subjects and experiences.
As we explore these key pillars—Agency, Wellbeing, Communication, Empathy, Collaboration, Creativity, and Interpretation—attendees will have the opportunity to reflect on how these capabilities can help articulate and demonstrate the value of the expressive arts within their own unique settings.
This session is particularly relevant for teachers and arts leads, and we warmly encourage schools to also invite senior leadership teams and governors. The session is free and open to all.
Format:
- Presentation by Sally Bacon and Jacqui O’Hanlon (CLA)
- Small Breakout Room Discussions
- Brief Feedback Session
- Closing Remarks from AccessArt
