Get expert legal guidance on adult social care issues from Access Social Care

From June 2026, KiCA is delighted to offer an exclusive legal advice drop-in service for their member organisations, delivered in partnership with Access Social Care.

These online sessions provide an opportunity to discuss adult social care law with a qualified solicitor, helping organisations understand and uphold the rights of people who draw on care and support. The sessions focus on individual rights and the duties of public bodies under the Care Act 2014, while supporting providers to embed person-centred, rights-based approaches into everyday practice.

Members are encouraged to submit questions in advance or raise them during the session. To protect confidentiality, all discussions must remain anonymous and members will need to avoid sharing identifiable personal information about individuals drawing on care and support during sessions.

Bring your questions and current challenges

These sessions are most effective when members bring current issues they are facing, such as:

  • concerns about whether an individual’s needs are being appropriately met
  • challenges related to assessments, reviews, or care planning
  • reductions in support or funding
  • questions about individual rights within adult social care; or
  • situations where guidance or a shared discussion would be helpful.

Topics may include:

  • Care Act assessments and reviews
  • reductions in support
  • personal budgets and uplifts
  • charging and disability-related expenditure
  • hospital discharge
  • delays or disputes with local authorities; or
  • wider adult social care legal duties and processes.

Who can attend?

The service is available to KiCA member organisations, including registered managers, operational managers, senior leaders, quality and compliance staff, team leaders, and the wider workforce.

Important information

Please note that this is a limited legal advice drop-in service, designed to offer brief, one-off guidance and discussion. The focus is on the individual rights of people drawing on care and support; it does not provide commercial, contractual, employment, or regulatory legal advice to organisations, nor does it include ongoing representation or full case management.
