DE Term 1 2027 Mackay Connection Day - Bluewater Lagoon

Feel like a day away from the screen? Want to spend some time outside enjoying God's creation with your fellow DE students, their families and your teachers?

We are thrilled to invite you to the Mackay Connection Day at Bluewater Lagoon! Get ready for an afternoon filled with fun & laughter.

• Date: 15 Feb 2027
• Time: 1PM to 4PM
• Meeting Location: Inside the main entry - look for ACC staff.

Cost- Free

What to bring:

• Swimmers (Modest - must include rash shirt/swimming top and swimming shorts)
• Any personal swimming equipment e.g. goggles, floaties, towels, etc.
• Water bottle
• Thongs or similar for public bathrooms
• Hat and sunscreen / sun protection

• Water, afternoon tea (or $$ to buy)

• Picnic Blanket and/or camp chairs could be a good idea

Registration closes on 5th February 2027 so we can confirm numbers and staffing.

All Distance Education activities require supervisors (parent or guardian) to accompany the enrolled student and remain at the event throughout the day. If that supervisor is not the legal parent or guardian, you must write a Letter of Permission for Supervision.

It is the responsibility of the family to arrange transport to the activity. All activities are optional and students are welcome to join in.

Supervision Requirements:
Parents and guardians, please be aware of your supervision responsibilities for children under your care. Parents and guardians will be the primary supervisor for their children, and it is not the responsibility of the teachers to supervise swimming.

Children under 5 years Must be within arm’s reach at all times

• Must be supervised by a parent/guardian aged 16 years or older, at all times.

• Must be accompanied in the water, at all times.

• Must be within an arm’s reach, at all times.
  

Children 5 – 10 years Must be actively supervised at all times

• Must be actively supervised by a parent/guardian aged 16 years or older, at all times.

• Supervisor must be aware of the child’s swimming ability and the level of accompaniment required.
  

Children 11+ years Visual contact must be maintained at all times

• Must be supervised by a parent/guardian aged 16 years or older, at all times.

• Supervisor must be aware of the child’s swimming ability and the level of accompaniment required.

Weak swimmers, regardless of age, must always be supervised by a person aged 16 years or older.

Lifeguards may remove unsupervised children or weak swimmers from the water.
