About Tim Putnam: Tim Putnam is a distinguished faculty member at the Medical University of South Carolina and the CEO of Rural Health Consulting. With a career spanning over four decades, Tim has contributed significantly to various facets of healthcare. His roles have ranged from laser and minimally invasive surgery research to being an Emergency Medical Technician, and from leading multiple hospital departments to serving as CEO of community hospitals in Illinois and Indiana.
Tim's leadership extends to several national boards and advisory committees, including the American Heart Association’s Stroke Committee, Alliance for Women’s Health and Prevention, and the Purdue University Center for Rural and Migrant Health. As a past president of both the National Rural Health Association and the Indiana Rural Health Association, Tim's impact on rural healthcare policy and education is profound.
Appointed by President Biden to the COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force in 2021, Tim led the Healthcare Access and Quality subcommittee, showcasing his dedication to health equity. His expertise is further shared through guest lectures at numerous universities and nationwide speaking engagements on rural healthcare improvement, healthcare governance, emergency medical services, and more.
Tim is also the author of the recently published book “Healthcare Leadership and Rural Communities,” adding yet another dimension to his contributions to the field.
