Domenic Salerni – L’Inferno (Dante’s Inferno), original film accompaniment
Witness a unique intersection of cinematic history and contemporary music! Italy’s first feature film, “L’Inferno”, based on Dante’s Inferno by Giuseppe de Liguoro came to life in 1911. 99 years later, in 2010, our very own ACMF artist Domenic Salerni composed and premiered his original accompaniment to the film at the Yale Dante Symposium with Sam Suggs. We’re so lucky to have both of these special musicians at ACMF to perform this work.
Adding another layer of local history, we're currently exploring whether this 65-minute film graced the screen of the historic Shepherdstown Opera House in its early days. Calling all history enthusiasts – if you have any insights, please share! We are delighted to celebrate both film and local heritage with this unique presentation in the very heart of Shepherdstown.
Enhance your experience with a special prix-fixe three-course private ticketed dinner at Bistro 112, conveniently located across the street and available exclusively to ACMF patrons before the show. Come for the 6 pm concert and make a full evening of it with our double feature!
