ACMF is delighted to return to Shenandoah Conservatory’s Goodson Chapel in a joint concert with conservatory faculty, Garrick Zoeter (clarinet) and Geoffrey Pilkington (horn).
This lush and dynamic program explores the way composers from the past two centuries have expanded and evolved traditional groupings of instruments to create magical, groundbreaking sound-worlds. Beginning with British composers, John Ireland and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, selected movements introduce the beauty of mixing horn and clarinet with the traditional string quartet. We celebrate these two instruments in the powerful ‘Titanic’ trio by Gorecki. We continue the theme of innovating the traditional through the celebrated Brahms Sextet in B-flat major, with a special ACMF twist including bassist Sam Suggs and second ‘cello’.
This event will last approximately 90-120 minutes.

John Ireland - Sextet for Clarinet, Horn and String Quartet, Mvt 1 (8’)
Coleridge-Taylor - Quintet for Clarinet and Strings, Mvt 2 (7’)
